Sony LinkBuds S are small and lightweight completely wireless earbuds

Sony has introduced the new member of the LinkBuds series, the LinkBuds S. Unlike the previous LinkBuds, which were special for their completely open design, the new model has the exact opposite goal – to cancel as much ambient noise as possible.

Sony claims that the LinkBuds S are the world’s smallest and lightest noise cancelling high-resolution wireless earbuds. The earbuds weigh only 4.8 g. According to Sony, the design of the earbuds perfectly follows the shape of the human ear, making them comfortable to wear throughout the day. The earbuds also use the Sony Precise Voice Pickup technology, which monitors the user’s speech and reduces ambient noise, thus improving call quality.

The earbuds feature a 5 mm speaker and a V1 processor familiar from Sony’s other noise cancelling earbuds. Similarly to Sony’s other higher-end earbuds, the earbuds support the LDAC codec that provides state-of-the-art sound and the DSEE Extreme audio processing, which restores the details of compressed audio. The earbuds are controlled through touch-sensitive surfaces. However, these earbuds do not feature the virtual buttons, i.e. the Wide Area Tap function found in the previous earbuds. Google Fast Pair and Windows Swift Pair functions are supported for fast pairing with devices.

The LinkBuds S battery lasts up to 6 hours on a single charge (when noise cancellation is on) and the charging case extends listening time to up to 20 hours. A 5-minute fast charge adds one hour of listening time. The Sony LinkBuds S is available in three colourways – black, white, and beige.
